Here dies another day
During which I have had eyes, ears, hands
And the great world around me;
And with tomorrow begins another.
Why am I allowed two?
I get one everyday. I think you do too.
This BTW, is a poem written by G.K.Chesterton. I read it in an introduction to his book Orthodoxy, although I haven't yet been able to find where it was first published. If you've read Chesterton, you'll know why the poem stopped me in my tracks. It's not really his sort of thing (devout appreciation) but the punch to the gut sure is. We are all such ingrates...
